Jacket Buttons from the Archive

A jacket lives or dies by its details, and buttons are the detail people notice first. This collection gathers every button in the archive suited to jackets: solid metal shanks for structured shoulders, art deco and crest designs for character, and quieter 2-hole and 4-hole styles for casual layers. Most are matched sets of 6 or 12 — enough to redo fronts and cuffs in one order.

Because our stock is vintage deadstock from the 1970s–90s, these are buttons no factory ships anymore. Every listing shows precise millimetre sizing and close-up photos, so you can match your buttonholes before ordering. Sets are finite: when a style sells out, it's gone.

Jacket Buttons — Questions, Answered

How many buttons do I need for a jacket?
A typical single-breasted jacket takes 3–4 front buttons plus 2–4 smaller cuff buttons per sleeve. Our sets of 12 usually cover fronts and cuffs with spares; measure your existing buttons in mm to confirm sizes.
What size are jacket buttons?
Fronts typically run 19–25 mm (30–40 ligne) and cuffs 15 mm (24 ligne). Every listing in this collection shows the exact millimetre size with close-up photos.
Can I replace just one lost jacket button?
Often the smarter move is replacing the full set so everything matches — vintage sets here cost about $2–3 per button. If you're matching one exact button, email a photo to our Button Finding Service and we'll check the archive.
Do these work for suit jackets and blazers too?
Yes — see our dedicated blazer buttons and suit buttons collections for crest and formal styles, or browse this collection for everything jacket-weight.
